Infestation State of Head Louse Among Primary School Children and Pediculicides Producing in Korea(1997)

Abstract
Head louse infestation have become a great problem in school children. This study was conducted to determinate how widespread head louse infestation were among elementary school children in Iksan city and pediculicides selling in Korea.
We studied 163 children from Youngahn elementary school children of Iksan city. The results of head louse; total prevalence 7.9%. We found that 13 cases of children were detected with nit and all of them were girls. Frequency of hair washing in infested children was from 1 to 3 times within a week. There were no one treated with pidiculicide. Pediculicides producing in Korea were 5 numbers, and all of them were made of lindane as main component. A sort of pyrethroidal pediculicides known as suitable delousing drug was not made in Korea. No adverse reactions with the pyrethroid used were reported in other country, so we recommended that pyrethroid seem more effective.
To manage head louse infestation in elementary school, we realized that head louse infestation is usually a family condition and it is necessary besides health-school, whole the social-help.
